BREVARD COUNTY - Suzan'ah Free is inviting music lovers to celebrate the release of her third album, "Sweet Tropical Dreams" on Sept. 4 at the Sandbar Sports Grill in Cocoa Beach from 4-8 p.m.
The Merritt Island resident specializes in "Tropical Rock," which stems from her upbringing in Oahu, Hawaii.
Ms. Free is an accomplished keyboardist and has been playing ukuleles since she was a child. She has opened for national acts, such as the Beach Boys, KC & The Sunshine Band, Charlie Daniels, Mark Chestnut, UB40, Ziggy Marley, David Howe and more.
"I moved to Brevard County in 1985," Ms. Free told Hometown News. "When I would tour around Florida, with my late husband, Danny "Blues", we would try to find the best beach town in either South Florida or the west coast, but when we would return to Brevard County, I realized the best beaches were right here. Seventy-two miles of awesome beach, and just the easy, breezy feel of this place - space launches and all - it's a small town with a great vibe."
Ms. Free's admiration for Brevard County can be heard on "Sweet Tropical Dreams" in a track called "Space Coast."
The songstress said she thought "Space Coast" would be a terrific way to introduce Brevard County to those who might not know what the area has to offer.
Currently, Ms. Free is in pre-production for a music video for the song.
Ms. Free has recently been recognized by the nonprofit, RecognizingOurHeroes.com, for her song "Heroes Fight for Peace" (sic) on her first album, "Forever Yours".
The song has been selected as the dedication song to honor the fallen heroes from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. A special nationwide celebration is being planned for 2017.
A special release of the song, as well as new songs, will pay tribute to military men and women, as the nonprofit has requested 7,000 copies of the CD.
Ms. Free said her release party will be an enjoyable time for music lovers.
"This is also the annual Labor Day Luau Show," she said. "The luau will include Hawaiian dancers, some hula dancing instructions, audience participation and fun. It's family-oriented."
Ms. Free will also have CDs, T-shirts, and more available for purchase. "Sweet Tropical Dreams" will be available for purchase no later than Sept. 4 on iTunes, Amazon and Ms. Free's website.
Sandbar Sports Grill is located at 4301 Ocean Beach Blvd., Cocoa Beach.
